Creating Space for Gratitude

This drum is my gratitude focus. It is in a place I walk by many times a day. This is the drum I use for space clearings to shift the energy of a space. Every time I see it, it raises my energy and reminds me to be grateful for all that I have and all the support I am given. We hear a lot about gratitude.  There are books written about it, columnists writing about it, bloggers focusing on it, people on Facebook commiting to commenting on a new thing each day that they are grateful for.  I am supportive of being mindful about gratitude...being grateful, having gratitude, giving gratitude and receiving gratitude.  Somehow, I feel that it is "deluted" along with all the other terminology of today's spiritual people...as if it's been overused and is truly under appreciated as a daily life changing opportunity.

I will be the first to admit that I go through my "gratitude waves."  Waves of times when I am really good about being grateful for what I have, my health, my family, my kids, and my close friends who are there to pick up the pieces when I need them the most.  Then there are the times that I forget...I'm wrapped up in all that could go wrong, why things aren't going as I planned, and why do these things have to happen to me? Standard pity party stuff.

Keeping emotionally present to tune into the gratitude practice, is exactly that...a practice.  Just like meditation or exercise, if we don't practice it with discipline, we will lapse and forget...and this is easy to do if you have a hectic schedule like mine!

So, as a Feng Shui Practitioner I work with people in their space...creating balance and helping attract positive opportunities and energy into their lives.  Why not incorporate gratitude into your space so that you don't have to remember to remember...you have elements within your home that will "trigger" a gratitude moment on a conscious and subconscious level...just by the energy of the space?

Here is a great way to get started on this.  Find something in your house that you absolutely LOVE.  Perhaps a picture, a memento, photograph, book, vase with flowers, etc.  Something that everytime you see it your heart sings and a smile appears on your face.  Take that item and put it somewhere you will absolutely see it...maybe it is in the middle of your kitchen table, maybe it is on your bedside table, maybe it is on your desk.  Put it somewhere you will definitely see it and when you place the item in it's spot close your eyes and intend gratitude right into it.  This object is something that you love and adore, whenever you see it, you can be grateful for all that is wonderful and serves your highest good.  Just intend that this will be the trigger to remind you to give gratitude for your blessed and beautiful life.

With gratitude to you,

Dana
